About Me
Counselor | Researcher | Consultant
Welcome! I’m Ty Robinson (he/him), a counseling psychology Ph.D. student at the University of Maryland, College Park. I am a dedicated counselor and researcher committed to advancing health equity by examining and addressing racism, discrimination, heterosexism, and other systems of oppression impacting Black and Black LGBTQ+ communities. My work is driven by a passion for fostering justice, wellness, and meaningful change at the community and policy level. I earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of North Texas and further enhanced my skills with an Ed.M. in counseling, with a concentration in sport psychology, from Boston University.
Service to the profession is also meaningful to me, especially when it is focused on the clinical training and well-being of doctoral psychology students. I am currently the 2026 APAGS Chair-Elect, an APA Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Predoctoral Fellow with the Minority Fellowship Program, and was named the 2023 Dalmas A. Taylor Memorial Summer Minority Policy Fellow with the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues. I have also served as an executive board member of the APA Student Affiliates of Seventeen (2021 - 2022) and a committee member on the Division 17 presidential task force (2023-2024).
